MAIG Mayor in Trouble-Former Binghamton mayor faces charges after a fight over politics :: 08/30/2014
Town of Barker, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Former Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan (D) is facing harassment charges after a fight in a town of Barker bar last week.
According to New York State Police in Kirkwood, the fight happened at Davy's Last Chance Saloon on Route 12 on Wednesday, August 20, just before 7:35 p.m.
Troopers said Ryan got into an argument over politics with pro-gas drilling activist Victor Furman, from Chenango Forks. 
Ryan allegedly pushed Furman with both hands in the chest and knocked him over multiple bar stools onto the ground.
According to troopers, Ryan then said, "I ought to punch you right in the mouth."
Ryan is facing a harassment charge, in the second degree.
There is currently no appearance date set in the Town of Barker court.
