Nevada Self-Defense: Police: Officer, citizens shoot, kill man after officer attacked with screwdriver :: 02/05/2021
LAS VEGAS — Police say a man was shot dead Wednesday after attacking a police officer with a screwdriver in a gun range parking lot. According to KTNV, several citizens and a police officer fired on the suspect but it’s not clear who held the fatal shot.
Police told KTNV that officers were responding to the gun range for a disturbance call. A man had been asked to leave the business, prompting several patrons to follow him outside to wait for police. Investigators later said the man had been "messing around with property that did not belong to him.”
When officers arrived, the man refused to talk to them. He then pulled out a screwdriver and “violently attacked” an officer, police said. That’s when the officer’s partner and bystanders opened fire, killing the man.
The shooting remains under investigation.
