South Carolina Self-Defense: Homeowner Shoots, Kills Suspect at Lake Carolina :: 11/11/2015
Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies say a Lake Carolina homeowner shot and killed a man after the suspect broke into his car and got a fight with him.
Officers say around 1 a.m. they got a call of a shooting on Baysdale Drive, which is off Lake Carolina Drive.
The homeowner told officers he heard a loud bang at a his back door, and went outside to investigate. He told detectives that he saw the suspect going into his vehicle and confronted the suspect.
The homeowner said the suspect started hitting him multiple times with an unknown object. According to deputies, the homeowner then got his handgun and fired at the suspect, hitting him in the upper body.
The suspect then tried to run away, but collapsed about 100 yards away. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Officers are working to determine if any charges will be brought against the homeowner.
