Texas Self-Defense: Police: Woman fatally shoots common-law husband in SE Houston, possibly in self defense :: 05/23/2015
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a shooting in southeast Houston Friday evening left a 64-year-old man dead, and his common-law wife is claiming she opened fire in self defense.
The shooting happened around 4:30pm at a home in the 2900 block of Carrolton. A woman at the scene told police she and her common-law husband got into an argument. The fight escalated and the woman says she fatally shot him in self defense.
"She actually made the call to police. She's been cooperative so far and we're talking to her downtown right now," an HPD spokesman said.
No one witnessed the shooting. So far, no charges have been filed against the woman.
The investigation is ongoing.
